The particles "wa" 「は」 and "ga" 「が」often become confusing for non-native Japanese speakers. The following is a simple explanation of "ga"「が」.

Simply put, 「が」emphasizes the words that come before it. Here are some examples:

私はその自転車を盗まなかった。彼が盗んだ。
わたし　は　その　じてんしゃ　を　ぬすまなかった。かれ　が　ぬすんだ。
I didn't steal that bike. HE is the one who stole that bike.

彼女が私の教師です。
かのじゅ　が　わたし　の　きょうし　です。
SHE is the one who is my teacher.

その犬が猫を追いかけた。
その　いぬ　が　ねこ　を　おいかけた。
THAT is the dog that chased that cat.

犬が好き。猫はあまり好きではない。
いぬ　が　すき。ねこ　は　あまり　すき　で　は　ない。
I like DOGS. I don't really care for cats in general.

犬は好き。猫があまり好きではない。
I like dogs, but I really don't care cats.

私のパソコンが壊れた。
わたし　の　ぱそこん　が　こわれた。
My computer broke.
