Japanese Lesson 86: Picture of a sanshin -- 英語のレッスン８６：三線の写真

これは横浜の山下公園に行ったときの写真だと思うけど・・・僕が弾いているのが「三線」です。

三線は三味線と似てるけど、同じではないです。この楽器は胴にニシキヘビの革を使ってるんですけど、本土じゃ蛇革は手に入りにくいから替わりに犬や猫の皮を使うようになって、それが三味線になったんです。

これ　は　よこはま　の　やました　こうえん　に　いった　とき　の　しゃしん　だ　と　おもう　けど。　ぼく　が　ひいてる　の　が　さんしん　です。

さんしん　は　しゃみせん　と　にている　けど　おなじ　で　は　ない　です。　この　がっき　は　どう　に　にしき　へび　の　かわ　を　つかってるん　です　けど　ほんど　じゃ　へびがわ　は　て　に　はいりにくい　から　かわり　に　いぬ　や　ねこ　の　かわ　を　つかう　よう　に　なって、　それ　が　しゃみせん　に　なったん　です。

This is a picture from when I went to Yamashita Park in Yokohama I think. The instrument I am playing is a sanshin.

A sanshin looks like a shamsisen, but they are not the same. This instrument's body is made from Python skin, but on the mainland snake skin was hard to get so they used dog or cat skin instead, and that's what became the shamisen.
